The name "Jesus" has been omitted here in the NIV. We may wonder why this was done. Could it be to make New Agers feel more comfortable with the NIV bible? "Son of God" is acceptable to the New Age for as long as "Jesus" is kept out of the picture. There are 38 cases where "Jesus" has been removed in the NIV, reducing "Christ Jesus" or "Jesus Christ" to a simple "Christ". This goes along with new age thinking where "Christ" has nothing to do with Jesus, it only denotes the name of a high, spiritual office similar to worldly offices like that of "president".
