Here the NIV translaters took liberty to have "the Son of God" which is a typical Christian expression, replaced by "a son of the gods" which comes directly from Greek Mythology. That the Greeks had many gods is attested to by Acts 14:11-13. Some of these gods also had sons and daughters. Of course all of these gods and their children we know to be demons & devils, but that is all right for New Agers, because they think that we Christians are ignorant to equate their "daemons" with evil spiritual beings. For them "daemons" as well as "demons" are not necessarily evil entities (wishful new age thinking).
